ClosetMonkey AI does not sell your personal information, wardrobe photos, phone number, calendar data, attendee information, or wear-history data. We use your information to operate the service you asked us to provide, personalize your experience, and keep your account secure.

1. Introduction

ClosetMonkey AI (“App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile application dedicated to helping you digitally organize and manage your wardrobe. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the ClosetMonkey app and any related services.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information directly from you and automatically as you use the App.

A. Information You Voluntarily Provide

Account Data

Email address, username, and password (stored as a secure hash). Used to create and secure your account.

Phone Number and SMS Data

Mobile phone number, one-time passcode delivery status, and related transactional messaging records used to verify your identity, secure your account, and support login or account recovery.

Closet / Item Data

Photos of clothing items, outfit photos, item descriptions (brand, color, size, price, purchase date), outfit combinations, and wear history. Essential to the core functionality of the App.

Calendar and Event Data

If you connect Google Calendar, we read your calendar in read-only mode so we can understand upcoming events, timing, and location context for outfit planning. We may also store attendee names or email addresses that appear on those events so we can personalize audience-aware style suggestions inside your account.

Daily Wear and Style Feedback

Information about when you wore an item or outfit, wear counts, last-worn dates, occasion tags, optional notes, optional weather/location context, and any style or comfort feedback you provide. Used to improve recommendations, closet insights, and outfit rotation.

Avatar, Try-On, and Optional Face Recognition Data

If you choose to use avatar-based virtual try-on or consent-based household face recognition features, we process the images and technical data needed to support those features. Virtual try-on uses avatar or person images you choose to upload. Face recognition enrollments are optional, consent-based, and intended for account or household recognition experiences where enabled.

User Content

Notes, tags, or personal identifiers you add to items or outfits.

Push Notification Tokens

Device tokens used to send you wardrobe alerts and outfit suggestions.

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, OS version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: Features accessed, session duration, in-app events, and crash logs.
  • Location Data: General location (city/region) for weather-based outfit suggestions. We do not collect precise GPS unless you explicitly enable it.

C. Biometric and Sensitive Data

Photos you upload may include your likeness. ClosetMonkey AI supports optional avatar-based virtual try-on features, and some kiosk or household recognition experiences may use face-recognition technology when you explicitly opt in.

Where face recognition is enabled, we store technical face embeddings rather than keeping your face image solely for recognition. Face-recognition enrollment is consent-based, may be revoked by you, and revoking consent deletes associated stored enrollments. We do not sell biometric data. We use it only to provide the specific recognition feature you enabled and to support household or kiosk experiences where that feature is active.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Service Delivery: To manage your digital closet and enable cross-device sync.
  • Identity and Security: To send one-time passcodes, verify that you control a phone number, prevent fraud, and help you regain access to your account.
  • Cleaner Data Connection: To check whether your phone number or account details match a participating dry cleaner account and, when matched, connect order, inventory, pickup, delivery, or alteration data to your ClosetMonkey experience.
  • Calendar-Aware Styling: To use connected calendar event titles, timing, and location context to help generate more relevant outfit suggestions and planning recommendations.
  • Audience Context: To use attendee information from connected calendar events to tailor style suggestions for the people, meetings, or social context you are dressing for. We use this information within your account experience and do not use it to market to your attendees.
  • Wear Tracking and Closet Insights: To understand how often items are worn, when they were last worn, and what worked well for you so we can improve closet rotation, daily outfit generation, and personal style recommendations.
  • AI-Powered Features: To analyze photos, identify clothing, generate descriptions, and detect duplicate items.
  • Avatar and Virtual Try-On Features: To generate avatar-based or image-based previews when you request try-on experiences and to manage the avatar images you choose to save.
  • Optional Face Recognition Features: To enable consent-based recognition experiences in supported kiosk or household contexts where you have explicitly opted in.
  • Customer Support: To respond to your requests and feedback.
  • App Improvement: To analyze usage patterns and develop new features.
  • Security: To protect against misuse and fraud.
  • Marketing (with consent): To send non-essential updates and promotions. You may opt out at any time.

4. Phone Verification and SMS Messaging

When you provide a mobile phone number, we may send you transactional text messages such as one-time passcodes, login verification codes, account security alerts, and other service-related messages needed to operate your account.

Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages when that option is available, and reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at support@closetmonkey.ai.

Your mobile opt-in data, text messaging consent, and related phone number information are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

5. Disclosure and Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below.

Third-Party Service Providers

Companies we use for hosting, cloud services, AI processing, and monitoring. They receive only what is necessary to perform services on our behalf.

Messaging Service Providers

Providers we use to deliver transactional text messages, such as one-time passcodes, account security messages, or account recovery codes.

Calendar and Identity Providers

If you connect Google services, we receive the calendar and account information needed to operate those integrations, subject to the permissions you grant.

Cleaner / POS Integration Providers

When you connect or match with a participating cleaner, we may exchange the minimum data required with their point-of-sale or operations systems to verify your account and sync your cleaner-related data.

AI Service Providers

Photos are processed by AI services for item detection and fashion analysis. Providers do not retain your images for their own training purposes.

Legal Requirements

If required by law, regulation, or court order, or to protect our rights or user safety.

Business Transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer to the acquiring entity.

  • Google Calendar and Google OAuth (calendar connection and account authorization, when you choose to connect them)
  • Google Cloud Vision API (image object detection)
  • Google Gemini (AI fashion analysis)
  • Google Vertex AI (virtual try-on generation and related image processing)
  • Twilio (transactional SMS delivery)
  • SMRT Systems and participating cleaner systems (cleaner account lookup and synchronization, where available)
  • Fastly (content delivery network)
  • Expo / EAS (mobile app build and distribution)

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Secure server hosting on Google Cloud Platform
  • Industry-standard password hashing
  • Regular security reviews and monitoring
  • Access controls limiting employee access to user data

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will initiate deletion of all your data, including uploaded photos and item records, within 30 days — unless we are required by law to retain it longer.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectification of inaccurate data
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction of processing
  • Object to processing
  • Data portability

ClosetMonkey is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe your child has provided us with data, contact us immediately at privacy@closetmonkey.ai.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our servers are located. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your information remains protected in accordance with this policy.
